Tula

This region is a two-hour car drive south of Moscow. We have placed children from two orphanages in Tula: one orphanage is located right in town, and the other is in the outlying region. The Tula region moves very quickly with the time between the first and second trip approximately four to six weeks. The ten-day wait after the court hearing has been routinely waived so far. We typically receive some written medical information prior to the first trip, and occasionally a photograph and/ or video of the child.

Ivanovo

Ivanovo is a four to five-hour car drive east of Moscow. We have placed children from two different orphanages in this region. The time between the first and second trip is 6-8 weeks. The ten-day wait after the court hearing has been routinely waived so far. We usually receive some written medical information prior to the first trip, and occasionally a photograph of the child.

Ulyanovsk

This region is a one-hour plane flight or thirteen-hour train ride southeast of Moscow. We place children primarily from the main orphanage in Ulyanovsk. Surrounding this orphanage, on the orphanage grounds, are a number of two story wood “cottages” which house children from ages 6 months to sixteen years in a family setting. When families travel to this region to adopt, they stay in the guest bedroom in one of these cottages. This provides a unique Russian cultural experience enjoyed by many families. The time between the first trip and the second trip is 6-9 weeks. The ten-day wait after the court hearing has been routinely waived except in one case. We receive very little medical information from this region prior to the first trip. Occasionally we will have a brief medical excerpt from the child’s record.

Rostov-on-Don

This region is a two-hour plane flight from Moscow, directly south. Rostov is located on the Black Sea and is considered a resort area for Russia. We work in five orphanages in the city of Rostov and in the outlying regions. At the present time, no medical information or photographs are available of children prior to the first trip, but there is a possibility that will change in the near future. The ten-day wait after the court is enforced in many cases in this region.

Krasnodar

This region is a two and a half hour plane flight directly south of Moscow, and south of Rostov-on-Don. This is a newer region and we have found it to move very smoothly. We are working in several orphanages in the city of Krasnodar and the outlying areas. There is no referral information provided prior to the first trip. The time between the first trip and the second trip is six to eight weeks. The ten-day wait has been waived in all cases processed so far in this region.

St. Petersburg

This region is a one and a half hour plane trip north of Moscow. We work in five orphanages in the city of St. Petersburg and the outlying regions. We usually receive medical information and occasionally a picture or video from this region prior to travel on the first trip. The time between the first trip and the second trip is eight to twelve weeks. The ten-day wait has been routinely waived in all cases so far.
